About

In honor of my 100th blog post here are 100 things about me:

1. I am a daughter of the King!
2. I was born and raised in a small town where everyone knew everyone.
3. I remember party lines.
4. I like living where I have some privacy.
5. I am the oldest of five children.
6. I did not feel loved as a child – except by my Father in Heaven.
7. I was (pathologically) shy as a child.
8. I am still shy but have matured a great deal in the social graces.
9. I was kidnapped when I was 4 or 5.
10. I had blonde hair for the first 6 years of my life.
11. Then it got darker – now I dye it a nice medium shade.
12. I didn’t have to work at anything in grade/high school. College did challenge me.
13. I grew up in the Roman Catholic Church.
14. My faith has always been very important to me.
15. It has sustained me through my darkest hours.
16. I remember the Latin Mass.
17. I wanted to be a nun as a child.
18. Then I wanted children – a dozen!
19. I have four children – 2 waiting for me in heaven.
20. Two of my children were born with complex cardiac defects.
21. I have way too much experience in NICU, CVICU, and PICU – as a parent.
22. I didn’t know how good hugs were until the death of my first child.
23. My youngest child has Down syndrome.
24. I believe children with Down syndrome are a gift.
25. I’ve learned that IQs and test scores don’t mean much.
26. I get along very well with my parents and thank God they are still living.
27. I find my siblings are a challenge though.
28. I am a registered nurse but haven’t worked for 17 yrs.
29. I still keep my nursing license active.
30. The Emergency Department was my favorite place to work.
31. I scored the highest score ever on the Certified Emergency Nurse exam.
32. I have found being a wife and mother to be the best “job” I’ve ever had.
33. I love to cook…and eat!
34. I am addicted to pork tenderloin sandwiches and everything Thai.
35. I don’t much like brussel sprouts.
36. I only drink one cup of coffee a day -- then its iced tea for me.
37. I’ve never been to Starbucks
38. I rarely eat out.
39. I am frugal.
40. I like to read and blog but haven’t had much time for either.
41. I recently discovered how much fun Facebook can be.
42. I’ve even twittered.
43. I can punctuate text messages.
44. Among other things, I collect Nativity sets and everything Christmas.
45. I like to travel but not fly.
46. I’ve been to some exotic places – Paris, Rome, London, the Holy Land, Hawaii -- some more than once.
47. The beach is my favorite place to vacation.
48. I prefer warmer climates.
49. I live in two places - both only warm in the summer.
50. I do not know how to swim.
51. I am afraid of horses.
52. I love long, hot baths.
53. I cannot sleep with my feet covered.
54. I cannot sleep without three pillows.
55. When I travel, my pillows must come with me.
56. My favorite place is home.
57. Cribbage is my favorite card came.
58. In my younger days, I could beat a table full of males playing poker.
59. Monopoly is my favorite board game.
60. I don’t watch TV but own several.
61. I do enjoy watching old movies.
62. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie.
63. I prefer the 1940 version with Laurence Olivier.
64. Bubbles are my favorite way to waste time on the computer.
65. Eric Clapton is my all-time favorite recording artist.
66. Susan Howatch is my current favorite author.
67. I am not athletic but love to play volleyball.
68. Volleyball is probably dangerous for me at my age.
69. I am very worried about breaking any of my bones.
70. Though I know worse things can (and probably will) happen.
71. I love to watch college basketball.
72. The St. Louis Cardinals are my favorite baseball team.
73. Football is growing on me.
74. I truly intend to exercise every day.
75. I am not artistically inclined.
76. But I can manage the art of pysanky.
77. I homeschool my children.
78. I love being a homeschooling mama and am so grateful for the opportunity.
79. I’ve written several articles about homeschooling and Down syndrome.
80. I moderate 3 yahoo groups for parents homeschooling children with Ds but don’t participate much these days.
81. I once gave a talk on homeschooling children with Down syndrome.
82. I do NOT like public speaking.
83. I do not like roller coasters but my hubby & kiddos are coaster addicts.
84. I prefer the shade and a good book.
85. I love teenagers.
86. I am madly in love with my hubby.
87. I am a clergy wife.
88. I am an orthodox Anglican.
89. I love Bible studies.
90. I have a great interest in church politics.
91. I am politically conservative
92. I am the black sheep of my family because of my conservative nature.
93. I am an info-holic. When something interests me I must know everything about the subject.
94. I am a church camp counselor.
95. I can’t wait to be a grandma but am willing to wait.
96. I love the foot rubs given to me by my hubby and he is quite generous with them.
97. I try to live my life with a grateful heart and outlook.
98. My spiritual gifts include: prayer, suffering, mercy, faith, miracles and knowledge.
99. I walk by faith, not by sight.
100. I am really pretty boring but happy and totally satisfied with my life!.
