I've spent a great deal of time over the years researching how children with Down syndrome learn. As I read and researched, I began to collect information and slowly begin to put the pieces all together. Learning in children with Ds is a complex interaction between strengths and weaknesses, motivation and learned helplessness, errorless learning and targeted interventions.

I've just come across your blog through Facebook. Our daughter with Down syndrome is 16 years old. She's has a twin who is 'typical'. Well, you know what I mean. lol.
I'm excited to read more about you and your book.
So much of what I'm reading in your blog sounds like me. We've homeschooled since Kindergarten. Our daughter loves to read and is working at about a 2nd and 3rd grade level. We're working on improving reading comprehension. Her math is weak. She is probably at a 1st grade level there. We use Time4Learning.com and it works very well for her. She is able to work at her own pace. It's such a benefit that she can repeat lessons as often as needed...since she learns best through repetition. I haven't read your book yet, but I look forward to seeing what you're experience and what your research has taught you.

So nice to "meet" you! It sounds like your daughter is doing great. Math is a challenge here also but strangely enough my Reagan loves math.
We have used Time4Learning also though not for a few years. I loved the ease of schooling it allowed us!
