Excuse me please...

I just have to share this sunset with my hubby. You see, he is slaving away finishing exams and I am in paradise. This is his kind of sunset!

I like my sunsets a bit more colorful with lots of clouds for interest - like this one from another evening:

This is what R's entire body looks like when we leave the beach. She is a sand magnet!

I'm in the perfect place for a Swappie meet! Come on down!!!!

These pics are from the north end of Captiva Island in Florida. We have been coming here for our entire marriage so it is very lonely without hubby BUT the girls are wonderful company. Great mother-daughter times to be enjoyed!

Wah, I'm so jealous! I can't even remember the last time I went to a beach. It's been years and years. Enjoy your girls, and have a happy Mother's Day! :-)

Are the shells at Captiva as good as the ones at Sanibel? Ohhh, I'm glad you are in such a nice place. Sorry your dh can't be with you though.

The shelling is fair on Capitva when compared to Sanibel. Because of the orientation (east to west vs. the north to south orientation of most barrier islands) Sanibel is better for shelling.

We stayed on Sanibel after hurricane Charley devastated Captiva and were in shell heaven!

I love the pristine beaches on Captiva. Sanibel has had some problems with red drift algae (very smelly and piles up on the beaches making the beach an unpleasant experience) over the last several years. Because of the drought in S. Florida, Lake Ockeechobee (which drains into the Gulf of Mexico) is drier and the red drift algae is not as much of a problem.

I had no idea! We last visited Sanibel in May 2000 and it was just gorgeous. That was our last big vacation as a family; the next year my eldest finished high school. So that trip gave me a lot of great memories :)

Hi Amy--

Your hubby's exams must be over by now... Are you off enjoying sunsets together?? These are beautiful!

He had to stay after exams for the trustee's meetings and graduation ceremonies. I left Florida to go to graduation.

We are home now and I'm finally settling into a more normal routine. Hubby is working part-time in local ERs and part-time at a local mission church.

Funny, since going off to seminary we see more of each other when he worked in the secular world full-time! I'm loving it.
